Congrats to Lila and Brandon. They were chosen by our class as our Spirit Award winners this month for acting responsibly. 

"Today in Social Studies, we were learning about the Oregon Trail and how dangerous it was, but if you did travel it, you got free land. Mrs. Byrd asked us to share our opinions if we would like to go along the Oregon Trail or not and we had to explain using evidence from a video that we watched. The first picture is people who said they would travel the Oregon Trail and the second picture is people who said they wouldn't want to go." -Liz

Today we observed our evaporation dishes and discovered that salt was one of the minerals in our mock rocks!

Today we took our mock rocks apart using nails to try to discover what minerals they are made up of. 

After we had them taken apart, we decided they were made up of red and green gravel and shells, but we still had some grey stuff left over. 

We decided to add it to water to see if it would separate it. We'll check back next week to see what happens.
